We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career accounting professional to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, family-oriented business.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and issue customer invoices accurately and on time
  • Assist in monitoring accounts receivable and following up on past-due balances
  • Process and record vendor invoices and ensure timely payment
  • Record and reconcile EFT transactions, credit card activity, and bank statements
  • Learn and support Accounts Payable (AP) posting to suppliers
  • Assist with deferred tax invoices and related reporting
  • Maintain accurate general ledger entries and support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations as assigned
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Maintain supporting documentation for audits, compliance, and management requests
  • Help track and record fuel sales, freight costs, and inventory balances for accuracy
  • Monitor expense accounts to ensure proper coding and approvals
  • Assist in preparing and filing sales tax and fuel tax reports
  • Participate in special projects, such as process improvements, system enhancements, and internal audits
  • Provide administrative and accounting support to the Accounting Manager and leadership team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or in progress)
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the role, with mentorship from senior staff
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • High level of integrity, reliability, and professionalism
