We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career accounting professional to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, family-oriented business.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and issue customer invoices accurately and on time
- Assist in monitoring accounts receivable and following up on past-due balances
- Process and record vendor invoices and ensure timely payment
- Record and reconcile EFT transactions, credit card activity, and bank statements
- Learn and support Accounts Payable (AP) posting to suppliers
- Assist with deferred tax invoices and related reporting
- Maintain accurate general ledger entries and support month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations as assigned
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Maintain supporting documentation for audits, compliance, and management requests
- Help track and record fuel sales, freight costs, and inventory balances for accuracy
- Monitor expense accounts to ensure proper coding and approvals
- Assist in preparing and filing sales tax and fuel tax reports
- Participate in special projects, such as process improvements, system enhancements, and internal audits
- Provide administrative and accounting support to the Accounting Manager and leadership team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or in progress)
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software
- Willingness to learn and grow in the role, with mentorship from senior staff
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- High level of integrity, reliability, and professionalism
